Letter to the Editor, 9/17/2020
/Northland’s CEO & Partner, Josh Benthien, recently wrote a letter to The Gorham Times. It was published in that paper’s September 17th, 2020 edition, and is reprinted here as follows:
Many of the loyal readers of the Gorham Times have recently driven by the site of the former Gorham Raceway, which closed in 1967. No doubt they have noticed a brand new 79,000 square foot building that began construction last year and was finished a couple months ago. That is the new home of Harvey Performance Company and more than 100 well-paying jobs for highly-skilled workers.
As the developer on this project, I am pleased to report that although they were exacting and rigorous in their review of what we proposed, Gorham town officials have been ultimately professional all along the way, and very clear about expectations and standards. Having been involved in many development projects through the years, I think your readers should be made aware of how well they have been served by elected officials and town staff. This project was a pleasure to complete, and in my opinion was a true model of what competent, professional collaboration is all about.
Manufacturing is alive and well in Maine, and that is certainly so in Gorham. My compliments to everyone involved.
