The Sanford Mill, Located at 61 Washington Street, once a bustling Sanford Mill company facility is now a vibrant mixed use building, home to 4 commercial tenants and occupants of 36 residential apartments.  Built in 1915, the building sits on the northwest corner of the Sanford Mill Historic District and is the nearest mill building to the center of town.  The historic significance of the building, and it’s prominent location, made the Sanford Mill primary focus of the Town’s efforts to revitalize and transform the mill area. After approaching Portland developers, Northland Enterprises in 2007, the town and Northland developed a long-term redevelopment plan that began in 2008 when the town obtained the Sanford Mill through eminent domain. Northland Enterprises completed the 11.5 Million dollar project in August 2013.
